The Manoli Museum ... at the gateway to Saint-Malo and Dinard, just a short walk from the banks of the Rance, is a little heaven where, between shade and light, sculpture and nature blend : here was the source of the artist's creative energy during the last 25 years of his life.
In 2001, the museum opened its doors to bequile us with the discovery of this marvellous treasury where sculptural virtuosity heightens the serenity of the garden.
With works such as the numerous public commissions, the " Cheminée " at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, the " Grande Voile " at Montparnasse railway station or the liturgical furniture of the Cathedral of Quimper, Manoli will propel you into his universe of material and movement, mobile and kinetic creations; produced with an oxyacetylene torch, his earthenware and molten granite are exceptional works.
The result is susrprising. Flights of gilded metal birds, sheep with propellers, ploughshares transformed into owls and acrobatas who seem to have invenented perpetual motion animate the grass under the trees and transport the observer into the artist's imaginary world; a moving experience.
A visit to the museum can stimulate the imaginations of both young and old and help them to see the world through the artisit's eyes.
Children will marvel at such great poetic works, combining visions of animals and vegetation. Adventure notebooks favouring a playful approach to art are available for the over eights.
Open to every aspect of creativity, the museum is often host to temporary exhibitions, to concerts and to literary events.
